With wedding season in full swing, serving the tuxedo strawberries is such a great idea at bridal showers and rehersal dinners! I am always looking for a "WOW" factor at my holiday parties and will check back for other fun ideas.
Good Luck, Marissa!

Hi Marisa, Love your Blog! I'm a "health food person" so I especially like your recipes for hummus, guacomole and the chicken dishes. And I love to stir fry. I think alot of us tend to eat the same foods all the time, prepared the same way - time to step out of our comfort zones and try something new!! Thanks Marisa.

MARISA! (Sorry about misspelling your name in my prior comment about the apples mishap.) I am looking forward to perusing your blog throughout break times from studying... or during times of procrastination :-) Graduated from the CIA at 19... super-impressive! Congrats for taking the leap into the abyss, one that I've yet to even dip my toe in.

Valentine's Day is right around the corner and for the past few years we have been hosting an "Evening of Aphrodisiacs" dinner party for our cousins and a couple of very dear friends. It's all in good fun and we're always on the lookout for some new ideas for recipies with "aphrodisiac qualities" to serve. We limit the number to 12 people and try to incorporate some make ahead items in an effort to keep things managable and smooth flowing. Any suggestions??

Linda,

I think that is such a fun idea! I have to admit, I don't know too much about aphrodisiac foods except of course for the typical things like oysters and chocolate.

Chocolate lava cakes are easy to make and taste really luscious and impressive. Any recipe that you find, you can make the batter ahead of time and bake it off right before you're ready to eat. Just make sure that it's at room temp before you put it in the oven. As far as chocolate goes, I think fondue is fun too.

Figs and honey are both aphrodisiacs and they taste great together. Cut in half or quarter (but don't cut all the way through so that you can stuff the middle) and either fresh or roasted, top with a little bit of goat or mascarpone cheese and a drizzle of honey. You can even do it bruschetta style on top of some crusty bread. Here is an example recipe:

Great question! Have fun at the party, and I hope I gave a few good suggestions. You've got me thinking about doing an entire post about this. I'm not positive yet, but kep an eye out!
By the way, please feel free to email me any time with questions. My email is marisa.musto17@gmail.com. That way, I can get back to you directly. :-)

P.S. Here is an article with a bunch of aphrodisaic recipes from Redbook that I found, and they have chocolate lava cake!
